Band spotlight
Band founded 1930
The Marching Wildcats are the largest student organization on campus — roughly 300 members, about 10% of enrollment — backed by the 14 Karat Gold dancers, the Sophisticat Flag Corps, and the Fabulous 5 Horsemen drum majors. Signature moments: live instrumentals for Shaggy on MTV's Rock N' Jock (2001); the Ellen DeGeneres Show Super Bowl special (2005, learned 'Lean Back' on the plane); a Cadillac DTS commercial (2005); five Honda Battle of the Bands showcases including 2005 and 2008 in the Georgia Dome; the Super Bowl 43 pregame show at Raymond James Stadium (2009); halftime at the 2010 NFL Pro Bowl; regular NFL halftimes for the Jaguars, Buccaneers, and Dolphins; the Netflix docuseries 'Marching Orders' (12 episodes, released August 3, 2018); and 10 drumline members riding Honda's 'Celebration of Dreams' float in the 2019 Rose Parade.
