Band spotlight

Mighty Marching Panthers

Band founded 1942

The Mighty Marching Panthers are CAU's most famous face: Drumline (2002) put them on movie screens, and seven Honda Battle of the Bands appearances (2003–2007, 2010–2011) — plus the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the BET Hip Hop Awards, Falcons halftimes, and rallies for Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton — made them nationally known. After the program collapsed to about six members in 2017, Tomisha Brock, the first woman to direct any SIAC band, began 'The Rebirth,' and the band climbed back past 100 members. The drumline, Essence Dance Team, and Silver Breeze Flag Corps carry the school motto as their own: 'I'll find a way or make one.'
