Why here — the dossier
Every highlight comes from the Yard roster — nothing invented.
Band spotlight
Band founded 1902
At Delaware State, halftime is literally called 'show time,' and the football experience isn't complete until the band's fifth-quarter post-game performance. The Storm dates to a 10-piece brass band at the State College for Colored Students in 1902 and has since played London's New Year's Day Parade (1995), a European jazz tour (1998), the Fourth Annual Ford Football Classic at Ford Field (2006), the Obama inaugural parade (2009), the Apollo Theater stage, ESPN's First Take, and NFL stadiums from Veterans Stadium to M&T Bank. In 2005, sixteen members performed in New York with the Temptations, the Spinners, and Martha Reeves and the Vandellas. Under new director Eugene Diggs II, the band is in a deliberate rebuild for longevity and tradition, mirroring the football program's own 2025 resurgence.
