Why here — the dossier
Every highlight comes from the Yard roster — nothing invented.
Band spotlight
Band founded 1997
The Blue Pride averages about 120 members and is a show-style HBCU band organized each fall — though it kept performing battles and exhibitions through the football-less decade after 2015. It played the 2013 Turkey Day Classic against Alabama State, the Battle for Birmingham at Legion Field in 2019, and regular Battles of the Bands across the Southeast, including the 2026 'Battle of the Tigers' drumline face-off with Tuskegee. The band is even playable in the Xbox 360 game Black College Football: BCFX, with selections of 'Sing a Song' and 'Word Up.' Concert and jazz bands round out the program; the concert choir is a separate powerhouse.
