Why here — the dossier
Every highlight comes from the Yard roster — nothing invented.
Band spotlight
The Ambassadors of Sound are the marching heartbeat of Virginia Union — the group President Hakim Lucas calls 'the one group that has no season that they are off.' They anchor Hovey Field Saturdays, battle the VSU Trojan Explosion in now-legendary postgame fifth quarters, and in 2025 took the show national with halftime slots at both the Black College Football Hall of Fame Classic and the Pro Football Hall of Fame Classic in Canton, Ohio, earning HBCU Gameday's 'most improved band of 2025' nod. Their 2025 run also put them on an NBA stage: halftime of the NBA HBCU Classic in Indianapolis alongside Jennifer Hudson. No founding year for the band could be verified in school or press sources, though footage of the VUU band at Cheyney's 1995 homecoming proves the tradition runs back decades.
