Why here — the dossier
Every highlight comes from the Yard roster — nothing invented.
Band spotlight
Band founded 1968
The Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite (SOD) run 190-plus members under four or five drum majors, with the current 'Funky Four' drum-major line dating to 1985. The Golden Girls have marched with the band since 1968 and bill themselves as the mother of all HBCU dancelines. SOD's identity is big brass, relentless percussion, and showmanship that made Alcorn a household name in Black college band culture — from NFL halftimes to the 2025 Macy's parade.
