Every highlight comes from the Yard roster — nothing invented.
Band spotlight
Band founded 1946
Known as 'The Sound & The Fury,' the Blue Machine debuted on Homecoming Day 1946 and has been Fort Valley's loudest ambassador since. Signature moments: the first SIAC performance of Al Jarreau's 'Black and Blues,' a 2005 Church's Chicken commercial, a televised ABC football game against Fisk, a 164-member lineup in 2004, the first Mardi Gras parade march in 2016, and annual 5th-quarter stand battles with Albany State, Savannah State and Tuskegee. The band's auxiliary line, the Dancing Dolls (now Dancing Doll Divas), and its drumline 'Archaic Pulse' are staples of HBCU band culture footage. In September 2025 the band was suspended over hazing allegations just before Homecoming, then rebuilt and returned to competition.
