Why here — the dossier
Every highlight comes from the Yard roster — nothing invented.
Band spotlight
Band founded 2020
The ROAR is one of the youngest HBCU bands in America and one of the fastest to national prominence: named #1 band in its division by ESPN in its first year and Division II/NAIA Band of the Year by 2023. The band field is known as the Serengeti and the dance team as LionEssence. Before 2020, FMU had no marching band program at all — Beckford's program was the school's first. The band represents the United States internationally, including a 2023 performance in Paris at the 26th edition of Bandafolie's.
