Band spotlight
Band founded 1946
Founded in 1946 by Miss Alma L. Brown and led since 1994 by John R. Graham Jr., M4 is the premiere band at UAPB and one of the most recognized marching bands in the country. It is a five-drum-major band with two auxiliaries — the M4 Golden Girls dancers and the 24 Karat Golden Silks flag line — and a drumline the band world knows as KRANK. Signature moments: marching in President Barack Obama's 2009 inaugural parade after raising $200,000 in two weeks, debuting at the 2008 Honda Battle of the Bands and returning to Honda in 2025 at SoFi Stadium, playing Cody Rhodes' theme at War Memorial Stadium in 2024 and getting invited to perform at WWE Bad Blood in Atlanta, plus NFL-stage spots at FedEx Forum for the Memphis Grizzlies and the Caesars Superdome for the New Orleans Saints, Mardi Gras appearances, and a 2026 halftime set at the Dallas Mavericks' African American Heritage Night.
