Every highlight comes from the Yard roster — nothing invented.
Band spotlight
Band founded 2022
Wiley's band history runs deep — R. E. Brown (class of 1899) organized the school's first brass band — but the marching band went dark after 1973 and stayed dark for half a century. During the silence, the A Cappella Choir carried Wiley's musical name worldwide: recording the Birth of a Nation soundtrack, touring Japan, and collecting viral gospel moments. The relaunched Marching Grandioso, announced in 2024 as part of the university relaunch, is building the HBCU band culture from scratch on a 50-year-old foundation.
