Why here — the dossier
Every highlight comes from the Yard roster — nothing invented.
Band spotlight
Band founded 2001
The Triple Threat is the heartbeat of Tiger football Saturdays in Jacksonville — a band built from scratch in 2001 alongside the reborn football program, and the first EWC ensemble to ever earn a national spotlight with invitations to the Honda Battle of the Bands in 2009 and 2013. The band has performed at halftime for the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars, and its auxiliary line, the Purple Thunder Dance Squad — a plus-sized dance line named Florida's 'Best Non-Traditional Dance Squad' in 2005 — has been a signature part of the show for two decades. In 2026 the university poured real money back into the program: new brass, woodwind and percussion instruments, 100 new uniforms bearing an emboldened EWU mark, and a credit-bearing, year-round instructional model meant to make the band a recruitment engine, not just a halftime act.
