Every highlight comes from the Yard roster — nothing invented.
Band spotlight
The Viking Marching Band — known in recent years as the 'Sound of Class' — is the school's loudest ambassador and a genuine point of pride in Elizabeth City. In September 2026 it ranked 12th nationally among Division II HBCU bands in the Red Lobster Band of the Year standings. On October 18, 2026, the band takes the field at Norfolk State's William 'Dick' Price Stadium as one of four bands in the Missy Elliott Presents HBCU Band Battle, alongside NSU's Spartan Legion, Virginia State's Trojan Explosion, and Hampton's Marching Force. The band's exact founding year is unverified in the sources checked.
