Band spotlight
Quiet Storm Marching Band
The Quiet Storm — also billed as the Marching Quiet Storm and '1000 Watts of Sound' — is Lane's marching identity, and its percussion section marches under the name 'Bloody Rain.' Killa Kev Productions has documented the band for a decade: 5th-quarter battles against Kentucky State's Thorobreds and Langston, drum battles against Grambling's 'Chocolate Thunder' at the 2025 Battle of the Drums and Coahoma's 'CorrupCion,' and a sousaphone showdown with Miles College. The band led Lane's 2014 homecoming parade through Jackson, and a band-history video traces its lineage through directors including Sampson, Oliver Hewitt, and Kenneth Martin.
