Band spotlight
Ocean of Soul
Band founded 1969
Affectionately called the 9th Wonder of the World. Known for a soulful, heavy sound, precision drills, high knees, and the Motion of the Ocean dance team. The city of Houston declared July 1st Ocean of Soul Day in 2022. Few HBCU bands have a bigger national stage résumé — Super Bowl XXXVIII, 2013 NBA All-Star pregame, 2018 NCAA Final Four, Netflix, WrestleMania, Beyoncé, and the pages of Vogue.
