THE YARD
WHAT'S THE WORD
About

The HBCU home
on the internet.

Scores, bands, homecomings, rivalries, and the talk of the yard — one house built for the culture, by the culture.

The Yard started from a simple bet: HBCU culture deserves its own home on the internet — not a corner of someone else's platform, but the whole house. Bands, schools, scores, homecomings, Greek life, and the talk of the yard, all in one place, built for the culture.

This is the whole house: a scoreboard with real, verified finals. Campus news as it moves. Homecoming dates worth traveling for. The Fifth Quarter Wall, where real band battles get crowned by community vote. The Yard Jukebox — a different marching band tune every time you pull up. And Yard Talk, the board where the yard says what it says.

No corner of someone else's platform. No algorithm deciding what the culture sees. Just the yard, all of it, in one place.

The philosophy

What it stands on.

01

Culture first, always

The bands, the schools, the classics, the Greeks. If it's HBCU, it belongs here; if it isn't, it doesn't.

02

Real numbers, no fakes

Scores and news get verified before they post. If we can't verify it, we don't post it.

03

Free to pull up

No account, no paywall. Just pull up.

04

Built for the yard

Phone-first, fast, and made to be checked every day — from kickoff to the fifth quarter.

Who it's for

The whole HBCU
family.

Students on the yard, alumni repping from afar, bandheads, Greeks, and everybody who knows what the culture means.

If that's you — the gate's open.
