FAQ
Honest answers.
The questions people actually ask — straight answers, no runaround.
What is the Yard?
The Yard is the HBCU social platform — bands, schools, culture, and community. Scores, news, band battles, homecoming, Greek life, and the talk of the yard, all in one place.
Is it free?
Yes. Free to use, no account, no paywall.
Do I need an account?
No. Just pull up.
Where do the scores come from?
Real game data, verified before it posts. If we can't verify it, we don't post it.
What's the Fifth Quarter Wall?
The band battle arena. Paste a YouTube link of a real HBCU band battle, the community votes, and a weekly winner gets crowned. Real footage only — no mashups, no fakes.
What's the Yard Jukebox?
Every time you hit the homepage, a random HBCU marching band tune is waiting. Different band every refresh. Tap to play — nothing plays until you tap.
Who built it — and who owns it?
smoovedrums.com built the site, together with multiple alumni members. The Yard is still in beta — some features have not been released yet. Full launch is scheduled for 1.1.27.
