UAPB spoils Southern's homecoming 41-10; Faulk says some players quit
I seen Southern got embarrassed on its own homecoming — UAPB walked into Mumford and hung a 41-10 beatdown on the Jaguars. Garrison Davis threw four touchdown passes and ran for 92 yards, and the Golden Lions piled up 299 rushing yards while Southern faded after leading 10-7 early. Afterward Marshall Faulk said some of his players "kind of quit" and "tapped out" — and said they won't play for him again. That's a homecoming night Southern will want to forget.
Morehouse edges Tuskegee 30-28 in a Classic that lived up to the name
I seen Morehouse held off Tuskegee 30-28 in the Morehouse-Tuskegee Classic last night at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery. One of the oldest rivalries in Black college football came down to the wire on ESPN+, and the Maroon Tigers got the last word. These two always turn it into a classic — this one was no different.
No. 23 Jackson State storms back past Alabama A&M 31-28, stays unbeaten
I seen Jackson State stayed perfect — the No. 23 Tigers dropped 21 fourth-quarter points to beat Alabama A&M 31-28 in the Gulf Coast Challenge at Ladd-Peebles. Freshman back Li'Darious Pryor stepped in after Nate Blount IV went down and sparked the comeback, then Jared Lockhart hit Kobe Paul for the go-ahead score with 5:42 left. Alabama A&M's Cornelious Brown IV threw three touchdowns and had JSU on the ropes, but the Tigers don't lose these ones — 5-0 now.

NCCU falls to Campbell 38-31 at home
I seen North Carolina Central fell at home to Campbell 38-31 under the lights in Durham. The Eagles couldn't hold off the Camels despite the O'Kelly-Riddick crowd behind them. NCCU now turns the page toward homecoming week — Oct. 10 is circled — and the Eagles need a bounce-back badly.
Bethune-Cookman holds off Alabama State 16-10 on game-sealing fumble
I seen Bethune-Cookman held off Alabama State 16-10 in its SWAC opener — and the ending was pure chaos. With 31 seconds left, true freshman Aaron Frye lost the ball on a deep drop, it was ruled a fumble after review, and Tre Rigby recovered it to seal the win for the Wildcats. Redshirt freshman Rashon Brown Jr. ran wild with 266 yards for B-CU, and the Wildcats never trailed despite a 90-minute weather delay. Preseason favorite Alabama State is now 1-1 in the SWAC.
